Hi!
This blog is dedicated to all things food systems related. Anything I happen to find interesting from farming practices and ecology, to farm workers’ rights, food sovereignty, and global agricultural policy, to cool food-related innovations is fair game.
I’m trying to learn as much as I can about all these topics, so if you have something to contribute (e.g. you have a suggestion for a post or you think I’ve given misinformation), please let me know! I’d also potentially welcome guest posts if you have something you’d like to write about.
Why Eating Ecology?
Many of the issues I will discuss are related to the separation of farming from its ecological basis. In my view, sustainable solutions to our agricultural (and broader food/health) woes lie in (re)developing agriculture based on ecological principles. The first step toward this goal is simply to recognize that what we’re growing and eating is a product of a specific ecosystem (that we’re eating ecology if you will). The second is to understand the ecology of what we’re eating.
