Hi, I’m Erin Lowe!
I’m a generalist at heart with a wide range of experience working across U.S. food systems.
I’ve worked on farms, in food supply chains, in policy and grassroots organizing, and in social and ecological research. Through my work, I’ve honed a strong skillset in writing and communications; project management; organizing; capacity development; and research, data synthesis, and analysis.
While my passion lies in connecting big picture issues, I’m also a doer. I excel at bridging big ideas with on-the-ground logistics, and I bring the organizational, communication, and coordination skills needed to get things done.
My current work is with the Great Lakes Intertribal Food Coalition and the Inter-Institutional Network for Food, Agriculture, and Sustainability (INFAS).
Outside of work I spend as much time as possible outdoors, hiking, biking, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and always looking for cool critters. I also enjoy cozy evenings reading, playing board games, or sharing food with friends.
My work is guided by my vision and values.
I want to live in a world where agriculture exists in harmony with nature and where anyone who wants to farm can farm. I want to participate in a food system where power and resources are distributed equitably, where everyone who produces or processes food can live a good life, and where healthy and sustainable food is available to all.
Achieving this vision requires structural change. It requires prioritizing social and racial justice and human-environmental health and redistributing power and resources accordingly. As an agroecologist, I believe that agroecology and food sovereignty provide the tools we need to make this vision reality, and I’m grateful to be in community with so many inspiring people leading the way to a brighter future.
